Activity Structures for Web-Based Lessons

Craig will provide a demonstration of how to use Dreamweaver to create a basic page on your CUIP account.

Make sure you have read Leu and Leu on activity formats (chapter 3).

Use http://sp.uconn.edu/~djleu/fourth.html (especially http://www.sp.uconn.edu/~djleu/fourth/three.html) and chapters 5 - 9) to explore some examples of:

  • Internet Workshop
  • Internet Project
  • Internet Inquiry
  • WebQuest

Use http://www.web-and-flow.com/help/formats2.html and google.com to find examples of:

  • Topic Hotlist
  • Subject Sampler
  • Insight Reflector
  • Concept Builder
  • Knowledge Hunt

Create a page (use Word or Dreamweaver) containing links to one of each type of project (total of 9 types) that you could use with students in your classroom or school. Describe the project. Discuss its advantages and limitations. Suggest modifications that would make it a more effective project.

If you cannot find an example that would be useful to you or your students, describe a hypothetical project that WOULD work.

Email the page to the listserv.
