Form groups of 2-4 based on subject-area interest: Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, Younger Children. Choose Five of the resources listed on Kathy Shrock's Critical Evaluation Page. (At least three of them NOT by Kathy.) Create a summary rubric that incorporates all of the information contained in the five resources. You can use http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php to or this Excel template to make your rubric. (Note, you don't have to limit your rubric to 4 categories as in the Excel template; just insert rows and change the point totals. If you don't know much about rubrics, go here.) Visit the Leu and Leu companion web site (4th edition) for the chapter you are most interested in: Chapter 5: English and Language Arts Choose five of the of the resources listed on the Leu and Leu page you visited. As a group, apply the rubric to them. How do they rate? Create a Microsoft Word document with each of the five resources listed. Describe each one. Comment on how they fared with the rubric. Be prepared to share this with the class.
