Second Paper Assignment

For the second paper, you will write a 6-8 page paper on the implications of John Dewey's ideas for art education.

1. Choose ONE WORD or PHRASE in Dewey's The Child and the Curriculum or Experience and Education that you think is especially significant for art education.

2. Explain what Dewey means by this word, and why it is important to his theory. Use at least three short quotations from Dewey in this section.

3. Describe how art teaching could be influenced by Dewey's ideas about this word or phrase. Include one or more personal experiences.

4. Describe one or more ways that Dewey's ideas about this word or phrase could be enhanced or expanded to make it more useful for art educators.

If you use sources other than Cahn, be sure to include full bibliographic information.
